About the Fabrics
Is everything in stock?
We have the majority of what is show in stock or readily available. If an item is out of stock when you place an order, we will notify you by email with an ETA and possible substitutions. If you need to know if something is in stock you can always email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How is fabric sold? Can I buy a 10" square?
Fabric (including Fake Furs and Oilcloth) is sold by the running yard. A yard is 36" long or about 91cm. The fabrics vary in width, but it is always specified in the item description. As an example, the fake furs are 60" wide. If you purchase 1 yard, you will receive a piece that is 36" long by 60" wide. If you purchase 1/2 yard, you will receive a piece that is 18" long by 60" wide. The minimum cut is 1/2 yard. After you have met the 1/2 yard minimum cut per fabric you may purchase iin 1/4 yard increments. You will need to enter the decimal equivalent for the yardage.
Do you offer samples?
We offer swatches as a way to help you make a decision. A swatch is a small piece of fabric that will allow you to feel the texture of the fabric and see the fabric in living color. On a fabric with lots of colors you may not see all of the colors but you will get the vibe. The swatches are about 1" x 3". We do not offer large swatches. With each swatch order you will receive a coupon code for a future order that will be valid for 30 days from your purchase date. You can order 5 swatches here or a set of 25 swatches here You can also request up to 5 swatches when you place an order
Do you offer discounts? Can I get a wholesale price?
We are a retail store and do not offer wholesale pricing. We offer a discount on . many fabrics if you purchase a larger quantity (often 5 yards) of a specific fabric. If you qualify for the discounted pricing, the reduced price will be reflected in your shopping cart. In order to qualify you need to purchase the minimum quantity of the same fabric/same color (not a combination of fabrics or combination of colors). Contact us if you are interested in purchasing 20 yards or more of a fabric and we may be able to offer you an additional discount
I need to return some fabric I received. How do I do that?
We want you to be happy with your purchase.
To insure full credit for your returns, please check your order immediately upon receipt. We are unable to rectify any problems that are brought to our attention more than 30 days after the date of shipment.

Please contact us by email or phone and we will do our best to rectify the situation. If we made an error we will pay for all shipping costs associated with the return/reshipment

When I order fabric how is it cut?
In general, when you order fabric we send you the yardage consecutively. ie: If you order 4 yards of fur you will receive a piece that is 60" wide and 4 yards long. There are however, a few exceptions to the rule. Some of our furs are thick and bulky. Because we want you to receive your fabric in excellent condition, we do not force more yardage into a box than it can easily contain. For example, if you order 10 yards of one of our thicker furs, we will cut it and ship it in two separate boxes. In this situation, we will call or email you and ask you how you would like us to split it.
Ordering and Shipping Questions
Where do you ship to?
We ship worldwide. If your country is listed in the pull down menu on our checkout screen, then you are a country we ship to. Domestic customers have a choice between having their order shipped via UPS or USPS. International orders are shipped via USPS international. You are responsible for paying any duties incurred with international shipping.
How do you ship orders?
We ship orders by UPS or through the US Post Office. Through UPS we offer ground shipping, 3rd day air, 2nd day air or next day air. UPS guarantees their delivery dates. USPS does not guarantee delivery date unless the package is being shipped domestically via USPS express. Through the US Post Office we ship domestically by Priority Mail or Express Mail. For International shipments we ship through the US Post Office using Priority Mail International or Express Mail International. The price of shipping is based on distance from San Francisco, shipping method, weight of package and size of package. The price for shipping on next day or second day air shipments is an estimate. Once we have the order packed up we will contact you if the shipping is more than estimated. If you are shipping via UPS we will need a street address. UPS will not ship to PO boxes.
How long will it take for me to get my order?
Our goal is to process all orders within 1 working day of when they are placed. Most orders are shipped out the same day that we receive them. Orders are shipped from San Francisco, California. UPS ground is 5 working days (Weekends and holidays do not count) from coast to coast. Priority mail is 2-3 working days in transit. For International orders, Priority Mail International is typically delivered in about 2 weeks but there is no guarantee. Express Mail International typically takes about 1 week to be delivered. Any customs, duties or import fees are the responsibility of the recipient. We are unable to estimate what the fees might be. If you need your order delivered within a specific time window, please contact us to figure out which shipping method is best. Although, we are notoriously excellent at filling orders within a day of receiving them, we occasionally do run out of things. When you are on a deadline, contacting us to make sure that your desired merchandise is in stock will ensure that you get what you need in a timely fashion.
What do I do if my package gets lost?
We will work with the shipper to recover your package to the best of our ability. If your order is being shipped via UPS, please contact us one day after the scheduled delivery date. At this point we will be able to contact UPS and file a claim. If your order is shipped via USPS we are unable to file a claim, as they have no system for doing so. In this case, we are not responsible for any packages lost by USPS. Fortunately this happens very infrequently.
How are your shipping costs calculated?
The shipping cost is based on the size of the package, the weight of the package, the distance the package is traveling, and the speed with which it travels. The cost you see is determined by the carrier that you choose to ship with. Occasionally the shipping cost is higher than originally estimated because of the large boxes that are necessary for big fur orders. If this is the case, we will contact you and ask your permission to charge you via paypal or credit card for the difference.
How do you pack the orders?
Furs and cottons are shipped in an envelope or box depending on the quantity. All oilcloth greater than 4 consecutive yards is shipped on a roll. Sparkle vinyl and clear vinyl are always shipped on a roll. Free swatches are shipped First class in an envelope at no charge to the customer. If you would prefer a particular packing method please let us know. If we can accommodate you we will but there may be additional shipping charges.
How can I pay for my order?
We accept visa, mastercard, American Express, Discover, paypal and Mendel's gift cards. We do not accept purchase orders, checks or money orders. If you are purchasing for an institution and need an invoice in advance of paying for the order with a credit card or by Paypal we can do that. Just let us know.
What if I don't have a credit card?
You can pay through paypal using your checking account.
Do I have to pay taxes?
We add 8 3/4% tax to orders being shipped withing the state of California. We are not currently obligated to charge tax on any order being shipped outside of the state of California. We are not able to accept retail or tax exempt certificates for California.
When do I get charged?
You will be charged at the time that your order is placed. If it is going to take more than a week for us to ship something to you, we will contact you. You can at this point choose to make a substitution, ask us to hold your order until the merchandise arrives, or cancel your order and receive a refund. If for some reason we are unable to ship something to you, we will refund you for the merchandise within one to two days of receiving your order.
What if I am afraid to put my credit card and info online? Can I still order from your store?
Of course. We understand that some people have a reservation about giving out their credit card information. When you're ready to place your order, give us a call at 415-621-1287 and we will be happy to take your order over the phone. We cannot process PayPal payments over the phone. Because we have to enter the order after we take it, placing your order this way will sometimes delay it a day or two depending on how busy we are at the time. Please place your call between 10am-5pm pacific time. You can also email us and we can try to work out the details that way but understand that you may not receive an immediate response.
Do you have sales or give out offer codes?
We do have sales and provide our customers with offer codes. If you follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or sign up for our mailing list on the website, you will be informed any time we are having a sale or offering a promotion.
When I visited your store in San Francisco I saw lots of things that aren't represented on the website. Can I still order those things online?
We have an entire retail store full of amazing, ever changing arts and crafts supplies. If there is something you have seen here in the past that isn't represented on the website or if there is something we are promoting on the facebook page that you don't see on the website, contact us and we can do an order over the phone or by email. As long as we have the item in stock, we will be more than happy to ship it out to you!
What is the prop 65 warning all about?
Prop 65 Warning: Oilcloth contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Because of the presense of DEHP (phthalate), please do not ingest Oilcloth. Our Oilcloth products are not intended for use by anyone 13 years or younger.
I was given a coupon code. How do I enter it?
On the checkout screen there is a place to enter a coupon code. If you have entered it correctly you will see your total reduced. If you have any questions, just let us know.
