Swatch Policy--

We know that sometimes you need to see the exact color of a fabic, or feel it to know if it will work. Swatches are the fabric stores answer to that problem. Swatches are small pieces (normally around 2" x 2") that we can provide. On large prints, you will only get a portion of the total design, but when you combine that with the pictures and info on our website you should have a pretty complete picture. We can send you up to 5 swatches at no cost. If you are interested, use our handy swatch request form.

ChalkclothTM !

What is ChalkclothTM?
This is a specially coated vinyl which acts like a chalkboard. Use regular chalkboard chalk to draw or write on it.

How do I care for my ChalkclothTM?
You must store ChalkclothTMrolled. If you fold it, you will crack the coating which makes it accept chalk. To clean it use a chalkboard eraser. After many uses you may get a haze that won't go away. Use a damp sponge and soft dry cloth to renew the surface. Never use solvent type cleaners.

Is the ChalkclothTMready to use?
It is recommended that you "season" the surface by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk (the common type made from calcium carbonate not fancy artist chalk or the dust-free variety)across the entire surface from side to side, then top to bottom. Wipe the chalk off with a soft cloth or dry sponge. Repeat the entire process and you are done! You are now ready to use your chalkable surface!

What can I do with ChalkclothTM?
Put it anywhere you want a non-permanent chalkboard. Some ideas-- put it on a table, a wall, a door, pull it out when the grandkids come over. It can be attached to a hard surface with a vinyl compatible adhesive, staple gun, little nails or tacks. Because it is supported with a mesh backing it can be cut and sewn.

How wide, how much?
ChalkclothTM is 47" wide and costs $10.69 per yard. Fabric is sold by the running yard. If you purchase one yard of oilcloth you will be sent a piece that is 36" by 47".

Note: Fabric is sold in 1/4 yard increments, with a 1/2 yard minimum per fabric. Orders under 1/2 yard will automatically be increased to the minimum.

    Clear Vinyl!

What is Clear Vinyl and why do I need it?
This is a great alternative if you want to make something waterproof, but the oilcloth patterns available won't work for you. This is flexible, clear vinyl that we sell by the yard

We stock the clear vinyl in 4 different weights. The lightest weight has a bit of stretch to it and is about the weight of piece of heavy weight copy paper. The heaviest is about the weight of the oilcloth, although it is a bit more flexible than the oilcloth.

The clear vinyl is 54" wide.

What can I do with the clear vinyl?Create your own custom oilcloth by layering the clear vinyl over a piece of fabric or paper. Great for a beach bag lining. Make a really sexy outfit!

Because this vinyl is clear, it is difficult to find a glue that will work well without looking like globs of glue. It is better to use this in a way that will not require complete adhesion to the other layer. For example, if you are making a beach bag you can just sew it to the other fabric around the edge. If you are using it on a table, you may not even need to have it adhered. For something that would be adhered, check out the iron on vinyl further down on this page.

Note: Fabric is sold in 1/4 yard increments, with a 1/2 yard minimum per fabric. Orders under 1/2 yard will automatically be increased to the minimum.

    iron

What is Iron-On Vinyl and why do I need it?
This is a clear laminating product that protects fabric and other smooth surfaces. Available in either the shiny "lustre" or non-glossy, satin "matte" finish. The Iron-on vinyl provides a durable, scuff resistant finish. It is water-restistant as well as uv-rated. It can be sewn through after it has been ironed on, although this will compromise the water-resistance on the stitching line. As with the other plastic "fabrics" that we sell, you can clean the surface with a damp sponge. Do not put in the washing machine. To adhere the vinyl you must use a dry iron on medium heat. The vinyl will work on any smooth surface that can withstand this temperarture including paper.

What can I do with Iron-On Vinyl?
This is great for smaller items which you would like to make more durable. Use it to make custom coasters, a small change purse, bookmarks, personalized mobile.... it is great for any project that you would like laminated. For larger projects you might consider using the clear vinyl that is not adhesive.

It comes in two finishes-- either shiny or matte. The Lustre (shiny) version is available either by the yard (1 yard minimum) or by the 2 yard package. The matte is only available in the 2 yard package. All are 17" wide

How do I buy it? What does it cost?

lustre (shiny)$5.39 per yardyards OR2 yard package$12.39 package
    matte (satin)$5.39 per yard yard
