About these dyes!
We sell Procion MX dyes. They come as a powder to which you add water. They are fiber reactive dyes-- which means that they actually change the color of the fiber, as opposed to staining or sitting on top of the fiber. When used correctly, they are permanent, colorfast and washable. ProcionMX dyes work very well on cotton, rayon, linen or hemp. They are available in a wide range of colors, but can also be mixed if you are trying to match a color. Soda Ash is the fixative used for these dyes. (Note: We have dyes for other types of fabric. If you are dyeing something other than cotton, linen, rayon or hemp, check out our fabric dyes page. It may hold the answer to your burning questions!)

DVDs about the art of tie-dye
Tie-Dye 101 If you are new to the craft of tie-dyeing this is the DVD for you. Tom and Martine share their tips and guide you step-by-step through the tie-dye process. They discuss common problems and show you how to get professional results every time. 87 minutes long; $24.95 Advanced Tie Dye Techniques-- Making Shapes and Mandalas For those of you who have tie dyed before and now want to move on to the advanced techniques, this 2 volume set is for you. One DVD goes over how to make hearts, arrows, peace signs and aliens. The other DVD shows you mandalas, suns and lotus blossoms. THE KITS
The Fool-Proof kit- This kit will do between 12 and 15 shirts. It comes with one bottle each of the three primary colors- lemon, turquoise and fuchsia as well as an extra bottle to mix a custom color. It also comes with the other things you need-- gloves, rubber bands, soda ash, and some basic instructions. It is a great kit that is almost foolproof! $19.99

Indigo Dye Kit-This is a brand new kit that has natural indigo dye in it. The process is a bit more labor intensive than dyeing with the procion dyes, but it creates a different more traditional hand dyed look. Dyeing with indigo is an ancient art of dyeing dating back to the 7th Century BC. This kit contains
Dyes for up to 15 yards or 5 lbs. of fabric, or 15 t-shirts. Dye bath lasts for several weeks. Includes everything you need except the fabric:
