Mosaic Mercantile glass tiles--
With a good pair of nippers and a little bit of practice, you should be able to nip these babies into the shape you desire.
The solid colors offer you a range of 45 different colors with multiple shades in each color family.

We've had mirrors for a long time (they can be found on the non-tile page )but the problem has always been that they were thinner than the Italian tiles so it was hard to use them in the same project. Problem solved! These tiles are the same thickness (1/8") as the Mosaic Mercantile tiles. Available in four styles. All $4.25 per bag.

Colored Mirror Tiles
These mirrors have a colored base. They are very reflective. The tiles are 1/2" square, 3mm thick. Available in 6 colors in the smooth mirror version and 2 colors in the tapestry version. The tapestry version comes in either gold or silver and has a textured base-- looks a lot like the tin ceiling tiles if you cut them up and colored them. Each 30 piece package costs $4.40.
These
are precut pieces of glass that are transluscent. Very beautiful. The pieces are about 3/4" square-- not always exactly square, but
pretty good. They are a bit thinner than the tiles, but they have great potential! You can use them whole or they can be nipped.
Because these tiles are not opaque you need to use a glue that dries clear and think about your substrate. This would work well on plexiglass or glass since both would allow the light to pass through. Take care to apply a thin, even coating of the adhesive since it is less likely to show through the tile.

Mini Ceramic Tiles These ceramic tiles have a glazed, smooth front which looks like a puddle of dried nail polish. Unlike the glass tiles which have the color all the way through, these tiles are only colored on the top. They should be used whole to retain the finish. These tiles are 3/8" square. Each package is 3 oz (about 90 tiles) for $3.30.

MosaiCraft Tile--
This is a collection of brightly colored, budget-priced glass tiles made in China. They are 3/4" square by 1/8" thick. They are a bit grainier that the Italian tiles and not quite as bright. Better for using whole than cutting into pieces. A great way to get into the craft of mosaics without spending a fortune. Sold by the pound bag of assorted colors. There are about 140-160 tiles per bag.
