Frequently Asked Questions
What is oilcloth?
This is a 10.3oz weight vinyl fabric that is bonded and supported with a coven cotton mesh. The surface can be wiped clean. The fabric has been tested and passes the National Fire Protection Agency 701 classification for commercial and residential use
Handling and Care of oilcloth
Oilcloth is waterproof and stain resistant, but not intended to be submerged in water. For cleaning we recommend wiping with a wet cloth. Do not use bleach cleaners or put in the washing machine. Fading may occur under direct sunlight for extended periods of time since the oilcloth does not contain a UV inhibitor.
If you are going to store yardage for an extended period of time it should be rolled not folded.
Meter vs Yard and how to order
Oilcloth is sold by the yard, or portion of the yard. A yard is 3 feet or 36". If you prefer metric measurements, a yard is 91cm.
The minimum cut is 1/2 yard. To order oilcloth, please use the decimal form.
CPSIA and California Prop 65
Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) prohibits oilcloth garments such as bibs and aprons or toys for children under age 12. This is due to the level of phthalates (a softener present in all vinyl) in the PVC vinyl of which oilcloth is made.
This product is known to the state of California to contain chemicals that cause Cancer, birth defects and cause other reproductive harm
At this time, it is not possible for us to print custom designs or get colors or patterns that are not shown on our website.
We offer swatches as a way to help you make a decision. A swatch is a small piece of fabric that will allow you to feel the texture of the fabric and see the fabric in living color. On a fabric with lots of colors you may not see all of the colors but you will get the vibe. The swatches are about 1" x 3". We do not offer large swatches. With each swatch order you will receive a coupon code for a future order that will be valid for 30 days from your purchase date.
